The Evolution of the Van

Van is a type of vehicle that is used to transport people or goods. When we look back in history, we find out that the word “van” has evolved along with the vehicles named after it. It is actually a shortened version of a “caravan”, a covered wagon pulled by beasts that were used to transport goods and people both.

Today, vans have become the vehicle of the masses and the go-to ride for shifting and mass travel. Truck4rent makes van hire on the Gold Coast easier than ever for the residents of this region. So, let’s dive deeper into the world of this automobile.

A Sneak-Peek into The Evolution of Vans

The evolution of vans cannot be understood separately. We need to get into the history of automobiles to see how the gradual advancements in this field to led to the development of the modern van. As per the records, the development of automobiles began in 1672 when the first steam-powered engine was invented.

In the following years, the progression was taken ahead and we got the first steam-powered automobile that could carry humans. It was materialized by Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot in the year 1769. In 1804, Isaac de Rivaz invented the first internal combustion engine which is also known as De Divaz Engine.

Two decades later, in 1826, Samuel Brown tested this engine for the time for industrial application. By the end of the 19th century, the two and four-cycle combustion engines came into being that was powered by gasoline.

In 1887, Carl Benz developed a large number of gasoline-powered automobiles. The bandwagon was joined and accelerated by Henry Ford who is credited for the mass production of motor cars in 1908.

With the growth of industries, the need for 4 wheelers was felt in various domains. They were needed to ferry people, and goods, and soon enough, they became an integral part of our lifestyle.

Vans evolved as vehicles more suited for business rather than individuals. However, this section went through quite a few upgrades and as a result, we see some varieties of vans.
